On Thursday, Hamilton County General Sessions Judge Alex McVeagh named his campaign and finance leadership team, which will gather support, raise funds and host events to benefit the campaign committee, Friends of Judge Alex.
Mike St. Charles and Marcy Eason will lead the committee as Finance Chairmen, retired former Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Muecke Barker will serve as the committee Treasurer, and attorneys Ariel Anthony and Max Bahner will serve as honorary campaign co-chairs.
“It’s deeply humbling that these leaders in our community have stepped forward to endorse me and support my election,” remarked Judge McVeagh, who will be on the General Election ballot scheduled for Thursday, August 4, 2022. “Not only are each of these talented lawyers generally regarded as giants in Tennessee legal circles, but they are also respected leaders in the civic and professional communities in Hamilton County.”
McVeagh launched his campaign to continue serving as judge of Hamilton County General Sessions Court, Division II, with an announcement last month for the non-partisan race next year. The rules uniquely governing judicial elections prohibit a judge or judicial candidate from personally soliciting or accepting contributions, making the role of the leadership and finance team critical.
“Judge Alex McVeagh has served our community so well and has a great deal of support from those who work with him daily,” noted Barker, treasurer for Friends of Judge Alex. “Alex is a fine man and has proven to be a distinguished jurist over these last four and a half years.”
Hamilton County General Sessions Court hears close to 60,000 civil and criminal cases each year, in addition to cases in Hamilton County’s misdemeanor Drug Recovery Court, which was founded by Judge Alex McVeagh in 2019.
“The innovation and leadership Judge Alex McVeagh has shown in his time on the bench are what the citizens of Hamilton County deserve and need. It’s an honor to be part of the team supporting him,” commented St. Charles, attorney and former president and managing shareholder of Chambliss, Bahner and Stophel, P.C.
Leading the ground team of “Friends of Judge Alex” are campaign manager, Emily Wade, and communications and volunteer coordinators, Caroline Thomas and Betsy Browder.
