East Ridge Police have arrested a woman accused of helping an accomplice rob a man of $10,000 back in November of 2020.
Christie Henderson, 38, of a Sabrina Lane address in Hixson, was charged with Facilitation of Especially Aggravated Robbery. She is being held in jail on a $50,000 bond. She is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on April 27, officials said.
According to an affidavit of complaint, Henderson took an acquaintance to a financial institution on Brainerd Road to cash a five-figure 401K disbursement check. After cashing the check, Henderson stopped at a convenience store in East Ridge to get gas.
When she went inside to pay for the fuel, a black man got into the driver’s seat of Henderson’s Mercedes where the victim was inside with the cash. A struggle took place in which the assailant pulled a pistol and allegedly struck the victim in the head and face.
According to the affidavit, the assailant, later identified as Corey Greer, got control of a backpack that the victim had, rummaged through it and took one of four envelopes that contained $10,000. The victim then chased the suspect away from the backpack. He was last seen entering a four-door sedan parked behind the convenience store.
Investigators collected evidence at the scene that included a baseball cap the suspect was wearing and a pair of sunglasses. A review of surveillance video showed Henderson pay for the fuel then head for a restroom while she was using a cellphone.
According to the affidavit, investigators questioned Henderson who ultimately told them that she knew of an individual known to her as “AV” whom she had suspected planned the robbery. “AV” had supposedly known that the victim had the 401K check that he would be cashing.
According to the affidavit, Henderson told investigators that “AV” asked her to provide companionship to the victim on the previous day. She said “AV” provided a room for the victim at America’s Best Inn & Suites on Lee Highway. It was determined that Henderson drove the victim from the hotel earlier on the morning of the robbery to find a place to cash the check.
The affidavit states that investigators reviewed video from America’s Best from Nov. 30. One video showed Henderson getting out of her Mercedes with Greer, the suspect in the convenience store assault. The video shows Greer leaving the motel in a gray colored SUV. The affidavit states that video shows the same SUV shadow Henderson’s Mercedes to the facility where the check was cashed.
The affidavit concludes that the investigation found that Henderson was dating Greer. “As such, it is reasonable to assume that (Greer) knew of Henderson’s intent on taking (the victim) to cash the check. Known images of Greer were then compared to images contained within the hotel’s video surveillance footage. Those findings indicate that Greer was in fact the suspect who had assaulted and robbed (the victim) on Nov. 30.”
East Ridge court officials said Greer was taken into custody by ERPD on Dec. 16. He bonded out on two charges: Especially Aggravated Robbery and Possession of a Firearm During a Dangerous Felony. Court officials said Greer’s bonding company surrendered his bond, and that the man is currently back in jail without bond on a Domestic Assault charge.
It is unclear when Greer will appear in East Ridge Municipal Court.
