East Ridge Police Officers are wearing a new badge.
According to a press release from Chief Stan Allen, the new badges, designed by members of the department, were delivered last week and distributed to the officers.
In the past, different ranks and officers with different assignments had different badges, Chief Allen said. Now, all officers, supervisors, and reserve officers will be wearing the same shield.
The old badges were declared surplus by the City Council at the September 10 meeting and officers were allowed to ‘purchase’ their old badge by making a donation to a local charity.
