_ Police are investigating an alleged rape in a car in the parking lot of Comfort Inn on Rinngold Road. According to a police report, an officer was dispatched to the motel on the morning of Oct. 30. The victim told the officer that she believed she was “drugged and sodomized” while she was asleep in her van on the lot of the motel on Oct. 27. The victim told the officer that she believed that they had “gassed” her while she was asleep in her vehicle and she woke up and was sore. The report states that the victim elaborated to police several different physical ailments she was experiencing because of the alleged incident. She was taken to Parkridge East for medical evaluation. The victim told the reporting officer that she believed the suspect to be an Hispanic truck driver who she had seen several times in different vehicles. The report states, “the victim stated there were also incidents at the Walmart in Chattanooga and at a location in possibly Manchester, Tenn.” An investigator with the department would not comment on the victim’s statement concerning “incidents” at other locations as to whether they were further allegations of rape or simply encounters with the suspect. The investigator said the Criminal Investigation Division is beginning an investigation into the allegation. 

_ 4400 Bennett Rd.: Police went to East Ridge Middle School on Oct. 28 to speak with school administrators about an “inappropriate” message on a student’s cell phone. The message was discovered when administrators were investigating a fight that the student recorded on his phone. According to a police report, a text message between the student and his girlfriend states that he would call her on Oct. 28 or 29 if he “wasn’t in jail.” The message then shows a picture of an Uzi machine gun, that is then followed by “I have a gun now, may go kill a cop.” The report states that a police officer interviewed the student, who told the officer he was just “joking” and would never do anything like that. When asked about the weapon, the student said that the gun was just a picture that he had downloaded from the internet and that he did not own any weapons. The report states that during the interview there was an interpreter used due to a language barrier between police and the student and his mother. The report states that the student has no juvenile record but does have some minor infractions with the school, including a fight at the school last year. The student denies being part of any gang and there is no evidence to suggest that he is at this time a member of a gang, the report states. The student was disciplined by the school and sent home with his mother at the conclusion of the interview, the report states.

_ 6712 Ringgold Rd.: Police were called to the Public Storage on Oct. 30 on a delayed burglary call. According to a police report, the complainant told officers that he went to his storage unit and the lock was missing from the door. The man opened the unit and saw that someone had knocked a hole in the back wall that may have allowed entry from another unit. The report states that prior to the burglary the unit’s contents were neatly stacked by the victim. When the man entered the unit, he noticed that boxes had been thrown all over the storage unit. The victim told officers that he is missing a Pioneer speaker and a duffle bag that had a new Verizon Pantech phone inside valued at almost $800. He told officers that he would inventory the unit and report back to them other items which may have been stolen. There were five other reports of burglary/theft at the Public Storage for the week of Oct. 28 to present. According to police department records, victims have reported having their storage units entered and items stolen for every month since May; a total of 30 reports.
