_ 6712 Ringgold Road: Police were dispatched to Public Storage on Oct. 25 on a reported burglary. According to a police report, officers spoke with the property manager who said that six units had been entered. The manager said she was in the process of contacting the victims who rented the units. The manager took officers through the property to show the scene and she told them that unit D46 had been cleared on the previous day. On this date, the manager told officers that she had discovered that someone had entered multiple units by breaking through drywall from a single unit that had been entered from the outside. The report states that several items were found in the floor of one of the units, among them a Lipton Tea bottle, presumably that of the suspect. Officers attempted unsuccessfully to lift a fingerprint from the bottle, the report states. In separate police reports concerning the burglaries, it was noted that the business has no video surveillance cameras to provide additional security. In addition, the security gate to the entire complex has a simple code that can be easily overcome by anyone attempting to make entry. Power tools were apparently used to cut one of the locks to a unit, one report states. Police told the manager to have owners of the units file supplemental reports to ERPD if and when they discover and can document items taken during the incident.
_ 1503 McDonald Rd.: Police were called to the Waverly Motel on Oct. 24 on a reported motorcycle theft. According to a police report, the victim told officers that at 7:30 a.m. he had allowed a white male that he had just met and knew only as “Country” to test ride his black, 2008 Harley-Davidson Super Glide. The victim said that he told “Country” the bike was for sale for $8,200. The man told the victim he had that kind of cash, but first he insisted on test riding the bike. “Unknown suspect never returned with the motorcycle,” the report states. The stolen motorcycle was entered into the National Crime Information Center database. There are no suspects.
_ 5354 Spriggs St.: Officers responded to 6800 block of Martha Avenue on Oct. 23 on a report of possible narcotics activity reported by an anonymous caller. According to a police report, the caller told dispatch that a black BMW was at this residence possibly engaged in a drug deal. While en route to Martha Avenue, officers noticed a BMW on Frawley Road that fit the description of the vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle sped off and headed west on Ringgold Road. Another officer got behind the car on Ringgold Road but the vehicle continued north on Interstate 75. The report states that the vehicle led police in a pursuit that ended when officers lost track of the car in the 1500 block of McBrien Road. The report states that officers saturated the area looking for the car. One officer was flagged down on Prigmore Road and told police that a black BMW, recently parked with the smell of brakes, was in the driveway of a residence on Spriggs Street. One officer searching for the driver of the car spotted a white male in a backyard of a house on Spriggs, but the man took off and could not be stopped. Police took an inventory of the car and found a black handgun that was sitting between the console and the driver’s seat, an AK47 pistol that was sitting in the floor behind the driver’s seat and a guitar. Officers also found a backpack containing a gallon freezer bag with 10 clear plastic sandwich bags of a chrystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. The total weight of the bag was 9.99 ounces, the report states. Officers also found among other items, two cellphones, two digital scales and two stolen license plates. The report states that the homeowner who saw the vehicle park on Spriggs and the driver flee, said that he looked like a man he knew as “Jeremy,” but was unsure of the last name. All the evidence was placed into property and evidence and the car was towed to the city’s impound lot, the report states.
