The following information was provided from East Ridge Police Department “pass along” reports from Thursday and Friday of last week.
April 18 – Day Shift
1200 John Ross Road:
A two (2) year-old female ran into the roadway while chasing a dog and was struck by a passing motorist. The child, who was transported to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital, received a knot on her head from being knocked down.
6519 Ringgold Road:
Edward Montrell Mitchell was given a criminal trespass notification for this location after being found in a non-rentable room sleeping on a mattress.
6725 Ringgold Road:
A woman had the tag stolen from her vehicle while shopping at Chattanooga Mercantile.
4214 Ringgold Road:
Daphne Tackett was arrested on active East Ridge warrants. Chattanooga Police Department encountered Ms. Tackett and discovered the warrants.
April 18 – Night Shift
5301 Ringgold Road:
A caller advised dispatch that a Toyota Avalon hopped the curb into the Walgreen’s parking lot. The caller believed the driver was having a medical emergency. Police responded and encountered Clayton Duff in the driver seat of the vehicle. He was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Duff was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana following a strip search performed inside the Hamilton County Jail.
3818 Kingwood Circle:
A woman at this address reported that an unknown party came into her home and took several items while she was taking a nap. The items stolen included a gold iPhone 6 in a blue case, $200.00 cash, and identification and social security card, and a blue Coach purse.
4300 Worsham Avenue:
Officers were dispatched to the area after dispatch received an unknown 911 trouble call, which was received from a 911 only phone. A young child could be heard handling the phone and nobody answered when the number was called back. Police went through the area and found no one in distress.
3616 Helen Lane:
A caller reported hearing several successive noises consistent with gunshots. The caller said that the noises sounded as if they were coming from Coleman Circle or the John Ross Road area. Police responded to the area but did not locate the source of the noise. :
300 Windmere Drive:
Police were called regarding a man dressed in dark clothes walking through the neighborhood. The caller advised dispatch that the man didn’t belong in the neighborhood. Police did not locate the subject.
3603 Wimberly Lane:
Police responded to this address after the caller reported his neighbor’s dog being aggressive and having entered his yard earlier in the day. There were no loose animals observed by police. The caller was advised to contact East Ridge Animal Services during operational hours to move forward with resolving the matter.
3642 Phelps Street:
Police received a call around 3:30 am from a caller wishing to report his sister missing. He said his sister had gone to CBC in Chattanooga and he has not heard from her or seen her since 1:00 am. He said she was last seen at that time at CBC. The caller said he didn’t believe that his sister was in any kind of danger but did think it was strange that she hadn’t called. The caller was advised by police that it was too soon to file a missing person report. The caller said he would attempt to track her phone while he waited to hear from her.
1200 San His Drive:
A man reported that his Stihl weed eater stolen from his trailer during the night on April 17th.
April 19 – Day Shift
3524 Phelps Street:
Police responded a second time regarding the caller’s sister said to be missing. While police were on scene, the sister contacted her brother via telephone and advised she was okay.
1612 Prigmore Road:
Police received a call requesting officer presence during a child custody exchange. The caller expressed that the father of the children was unwilling to cooperate. Officers contacted the father and were able to mediate the situation and find a solution. Police were called back a short time later regarding the actual child exchange. The children left with the mother without incident.
941 Spring Creek Road:
Police received a call from Parkridge East Hospital regarding a male patient that left the hospital with the IV still attached. Fort Oglethorpe Police were asked to perform a well-being check at the patient’s last known address.
510 Frawley Road:
A call was received about a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Frawley Road Baptist Church for an extended period. The vehicle was gone upon arrival of police.
4150 Ringgold Road:
A call was received regarding several people in a Chevrolet Cobalt allegedly using drugs. Upon arrival police observed Juria Sitz dropping items on the floor of the vehicle. Thomas Ervin, who was seated in the driver seat, said he was going into the store. While speaking with Mr. Ervin, officers observed a needle cap on the floorboard. When asked to step out of the vehicle, a needle fell from Mr. Ervin’s lap and onto the floorboard of the vehicle. Ms. Sitz was then observed removing a plastic wrapper from a cup containing soda. Ms. Sitz was detained upon exiting the vehicle. An older female, Linda Griffin, was also removed from the vehicle. While she exited the vehicle, police observed a small crystal-like substance fall from the right side of her person onto the carpet of the vehicle. Ms. Griffin also had a tin cap on her person used for cooking drugs. Ms. Griffin was also detained. During a search of the vehicle officers located a black zippered bag containing a loaded syringe, empty syringes, two cookers, a cut straw, and a clear bag containing approximately 1.3 grams of suspected heroin. In the rear of the vehicle, officers recovered an orange pill bottle, a cooker, and the clear wrapper that was in the possession of Ms. Sitz. A red Alabama bag contained a checkbook. Ms. Sitz claimed ownership of the bag. The checks that had been in the bag had the names rubbed off them. Mr. Ervin and Ms. Sitz’s names had been handwritten in and several of the checks were made out to Ms. Griffin. Thomas Ervin was arrested for possession of schedule 1 controlled substance (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication. Juria Sitz was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and public intoxication. Ms. Griffin was released after a cab was called to pick her up due to her having a revoked driver license. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
4214 Ringgold Road:
Christian Perez came to the East Ridge Police Department inquiring about his court date. Unfortunately, Mr. Perez’s court date was earlier in the month and he had missed his required appearance in court. A warrant had been issued as a result. Mr. Perez was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.
1000 Bass Pro Drive:
Police received a call about a woman that was seen laying on the side of the road in the grass. The female was gone upon arrival of police.
400 block South Moore Road:
A caller advised police that a man was taking donations at the intersection. Upon arrival to the area, police observed the man inside the jurisdictional boundary of Chattanooga.
800 Summit Avenue:
A caller advised that a tree had fallen on a vacant house behind the Ridgeview Point Apartments. The tree damaged the electrical service to the house. East Ridge Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and handled the issue.
3609 Wimberly Lane:
A man advised police that someone entered his Honda Odyssey minivan and stole items from within. He advised that the van was left unlocked and the incident occurred sometime between 6:00 pm on April 18th and 8:00 am on April 19th.
1410 North Mack Smith Road:
Police received a call at the Budgetel about a mental health consumer that had called in to crisis response stating he had just purchased a firearm and was possibly suicidal. Officers contacted the caller and found him to be in an agitated state. He said he was not suicidal but was angry. Police were unable to locate the presence of a firearm.
6674 Ringgold Road:
A call was received advising police of a homeless camp behind the Rodeway Inn. The caller requested that criminal trespass notifications be given to the people camping on the property. Officers issued criminal trespass notifications to Ladon Scott and Cheryl Swager.
1510 EsterbrookCourt:
A woman advised police that her 2015 Ford Edge had been burglarized overnight. She said two (2) debit cards and two (2) credit cards were stolen from her wallet. She further advised that $150.00 cash and a valet key were also taken from inside the vehicle. There was no forced entry observed and Ms. Weaver advised the vehicle was possibly left unlocked.
