_ 4112 Ringgold Rd.: Late Friday evening, police were dispatched to Cannon’s Wrecker service on the theft of the company’s rollback tow truck. According to a police report, 10 minutes prior to the 12:33 a.m. dispatch officers were sitting at the intersection of Ringgold and John Ross Roads and did not see the red 1997 Ford F450 tow truck come out of the business. Officers spoke with James “Bobby” Cannon who said he heard and saw the vehicle pull off the lot. Cannon called an employee about the vehicle and the employee was home in his bed. At that time, Cannon told police he called to report the theft. According to the report, Cannon told police that the keys to the vehicle were in the floorboard of the truck. Police placed the rollback tow truck into NCIC as stolen.
_ 1410 N. Mack Smith Rd.: On Thursday evening a police officer working an extra-duty job at the Budgetel Inn was notified of a reported theft at the location. According to a police report, the officer spoke with the victim of the theft who said that a white female he only knew as “Stephanie” had stolen a purse from his room. The victim told police that he met Stephanie at the Chattanooga library near Brainerd Road where she wanted him to give her a ride to Cobb County, Georgia. The victim said he couldn’t give the woman a ride but said he would allow her to stay in his motel room. According to the report, the victim told police that even though he had only just met the woman he left her in his room alone for more than an hour so he could go run some errands. The victim said while he was running the errands he received a call from Stephanie asking for his location and when he might be returning to the room. The report states that when the victim got back to the room there Stephanie was gone along with his purse.
According to the report, police reviewed surveillance video from the motel which showed the suspect walking out of the room with the purse. In addition, the video showed the housekeeper going into the room to allow the suspect to use the phone and retrieve her “vape” she claimed to have left behind. The report states the housekeeper could provide little additional information.
The suspect, the report states, left her Facebook Messenger logged in on the victim’s phone under the name of “Stephanie Waite.” Police attempted various ways of trying to locate any additional information about the suspect using that name but were unsuccessful.
_ South Smith Street: Last Wednesday, police received a complaint of a man exposing his genitals to a woman and her juvenile daughter. According to a police report, police spoke with the victim who said she was getting out of her car and unloading some items when she spotted a white male in his early 40’s coming up the road. When he yelled a greeting, she ignored him. The man yelled at her again and when she looked around he had pulled out his penis and was showing it to her. The report states the victim grabbed her young daughter and turned her away from the man exposing his genitals. The victim told police that she ordered the man to stop and leave, which he did. The victim went inside and called police.
Police located an older white male fitting the victim’s description at the Taco Bell, the report states. Police requested the victim come to the Taco Bell to see if she could make a positive identification of the suspect. The report states that the victim came to Taco Bell and quickly stated that the man detained was not the person who exposed himself. The report states that suspect was never located.
