Normal Park defeated Catholic, 22-8, Thursday in a defense dominated game.
Though thunder threatened throughout the game, the only lightening to actually show was the lightening of Normal Park.
The teams were scoreless at the end of the first quarter, with each team having negative net yardage. In the second quarter Normal Park scored a 53-yard touchdown on a busted play. The conversion attempt failed. The game stood 6-0 at the halftime intermission.
Normal Park scored on another long run in the third quarter. Normal Park made a two-point conversion moving the score to 14-0.
Catholic was able to put points on the board in the fourth quarter on a 27-yard jaunt by Isha Davis. Davis also added the 2-point conversion.
Normal Park’s third touchdown was a 41-yard fumble recovery/return. Final score, Normal Park 22, Catholic 8.
“We knew coming into the season this was a rebuilding year,’ said Catholic Coach Bucky Dearing. “Losing two 2-way starters in the past week certainly didn’t help, but I was very proud of the effort by several of our players today.
Catholic coaches pointed out by name the effort of George Sam Gribben, Davis, and Brock Barasha.
Catholic plays next week at Silverdale Baptist Academy.
