On Monday, May 28, beginning at 1:00 p.m., the Annual East Ridge Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Pioneer Frontier Park, located beside East Ridge City Hall. This annual tradition honors those that have served in any branch of the military who died while on active duty. The American Legion Post 95, located in East Ridge, spearheads this event along with City personnel and the Crestwood Garden Club.
Commander Larry Palmer will emcee the event with guest speaker, East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert. The keynote speaker this year will be Congressman Chuck Fleischman. The posting of the colors duties will be performed by the American Legion Post 95 Color Guard, and music will be provided by the American Legion band.
During the ceremony the 3rdAnnual Lester Norton Award for Patriotism will be presented to an East Ridge citizen who goes above and beyond to display their patriotism daily.
City offices and non-essential services, which include the City Library, will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. For those that have Sanitation services on Monday, the following pickup schedule will be implemented:
- North-side and Ringgold Road will be picked up on Tuesday, May 29th
- South-side will be picked up on Wednesday, May 30th
