East Ridge finished second out of a field of eight teams in the Soddy Daisy Invitation boys’ soccer tournament this weekend.
The Pioneers fought CSTHEA (home school team) to a 0-0 draw, before besting Tyner, 5-1.
East Ridge coach Jeremy McIntyre said that CSTHEA had a very good defense and did a good job keeping East Ridge out of the box for the entire contest. East Ridge outshot the Patriots, 12-3, yet failed to score.
In the win over Tyner, Rijad Kazic scored twice and picked up an assist, with Adam Adem, Bryan Alonzo and Erik Lopez rounding out the scoring. Erik Matias was credited with two assists in the win – the Pioneers fourth against only one draw. Peter Vicente Itzep and Luis Padilla also had assists in the game.
Enrique Simental scored Tyner’s goal on a penalty kick.
