_ 6510 Ringgold Rd,: Police were dispatched to the 4A’s Inn Sunday morning in regard to a burglary. According to an affidavit of complaint, police spoke with a man who said that he and his friend went to a bar in Chattanooga the previous evening and made friends with two women and another man they met there. They then decided to rent a room at the 4A’s Inn to “hang out” for the rest of the night. The man told police that they went to sleep at about midnight and when they woke up his cell phone and his friend’s cell phone were missing, along with his Nike shoes.
The man told police that he went outside to the parking lot only to find that his 1996 Toyota 4Runner was also gone. The man told police that he only knew the first name of one of the women – Sasha. He said that she was heavyset with brown hair and that it was she who rented the room. The report states that police spoke with motel staff who provided the copy of the drivers license of the woman who rented the room. That person was Sasha Nicole Carr. The man identified Carr from her Georgia drivers license.
The report states that police spoke with a man who had been staying at the motel for the past couple months who said he stepped outside his room on Sunday morning and saw someone sitting in the Toyota 4Runner that he recognized. The man told police that Carr, who he has known for years, was in the Toyota. Carr told the man that she was going to the Walmart and possibly the hospital. The man called Carr on the phone in the presence of police and spoke with her on speaker. The man told Carr that she needed to come back to the motel because the owner of the car was telling the cops that she took it without his permission.
According to the report, Carr said she was on her way back to the motel and would be there in a few minutes. Carr never showed up, the report states.
The Toyota was entered into a national crime data base as stolen. The report states that shortly after this was done, the owner of the Toyota showed police a text that he just received from Carr. She told him the whole situation was “ridiculous” and that it had scared her. The text stated that the Toyota was at Wally’s Restaurant across the street from the 4A’s and that Carr’s sister worked there. Police found the Toyota on Wally’s lot, but upon speaking to every employee at the restaurant no one knew a Sasha Carr.
Carr, 30, of an East 50th Street address in Chattanooga, was later taken into custody and charged with Theft over $10,000 and Theft of Property under $1,000.
_ East Ridge police have arrested a Chattanooga man for trying to break into the offices of a used car lot.
Marvin Lebron Toney, 26, of a Hansley Drive address, was charged with Attempted Burglary of a Business. It is not clear when Toney will appear in municipal court.
According to an affidavit of complaint, On Saturday evening the owner of the car lot in the 3900 block of Ringgold Road reported to police that a man spray painted the security cameras and had taken off on foot down Greenslake Road toward John Ross Road. The owner of the business told dispatchers that he was driving a car and following the suspect.
The report states that police arrived and ordered the suspect to stop, but the man continued to walk away. The man ignored police officers’ commands and he was subsequently tased and taken into custody. The man was later identified as Toney.
The report states that police made contact with the business owner who said he was on the lot at about 9 p.m. to move some items out of his car into another vehicle. He said he saw Toney try to get into the business office of the car lot. Police reviewed security footage which shows Toney walking onto the lot at about 9:20 p.m. A couple of minutes later the footage shows Toney spray painting the camera facing the front lot. Video also showed Toney walking up the stairs leading to the front door of the office. Toney was also seen attempting to make entry into two separate Dodge Chargers on the lot.
Police recovered a can of spray paint from a window sill of the office. Police found keys in Toney’s pocket that appeared to be from a used car dealership. Those keys were placed into property and evidence at ERPD. Toney was taken to Parkridge East for medical clearance before being transported to the Hamilton County Jail, the report states.
