_ 3900 Ringgold Rd.: Last week police were called to Southern Fleet sales on a reported car theft. According to a police report, when an officer arrived he spoke with a man who had stopped and parked his 2014 Dodge Charger on the lot to look at a car that was for sale. He and a passenger left the Charger and were about 25 yards away when the man saw someone pulling away in his car. The thief took off down Ringgold Road and was last seen going north on Moore Road, the report states. Police were unable to locate the stolen Dodge Charger. The victim told police that his Sig 220 .45-cal pistol was in the side door compartment of the stolen vehicle. His passenger’s purse containing a cell phone and drivers license was also inside the car.
According to the report, the suspect was described as being a tall, thin male. The stolen vehicle’s tag number is E52903. It has tinted windows and minor damage to the right side. The report states that the victim told police he still has the key fob and once the vehicle is turned off it will not be able to be restarted.
_ 5080 South Terrace: Police were called to the AMC movie theater recently in reference to an assault. According to a police report, an officer spoke with a a man who said that he was watching a movie when a heavy set white man with a bald head began to act disorderly after being asked not to use his cell phone. The victim told police that the bald headed man turned around and tried to climb over the seat while hitting him in the chest and arms. The victim said he was uninjured during incident. The bald headed man left the theater before police arrived.
Officers reviewed surveillance video of the incident. The suspect was seen entering the movie theater with a dark-haired female. The report states that police were unable to identify the suspect. Employees were asked to contact police if the man returned to the theater at a later date. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, the report states.
_ 5630 Ringgold Rd.: Police were called to the address, Tuesday morning, in reference to a vehicle fire. According to a police report, when officers arrived they saw a white 2000 GMC Savanna Cutaway box truck stopped in the middle turn lane with flames falling to the roadway under the engine. The East Ridge Fire Department quickly arrived on the scene and helped stop traffic. The fire department extinguished the fire in the engine compartment. The report states the driver of the truck told police that he was driving down the road and the truck “stopped working.” The driver stopped in the turn lane and noticed smoke emanating from the engine area. The damaged truck was towed.
