On Christmas Eve East Ridge police arrested a Chattanooga man on drug charges at a local motel.
Lonnie Lavone Boyd, 35, of a Citico Avenue address, has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale, Delivery or Manufacturing, Possession of a Firearm while in Commission of a Felony, Possession of Marijuana for Resale, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Cocaine. He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail under a $50,000.
According to an affidavit of complaint, a police officer saw a red Jeep parked at the rear of the Waverly Motel on Ringgold road just before 10 p.m. The report notes that the area is well kn own as a high narcotic activity area.
The officer made contact with a person in the front seat of the Jeep who said that he and the juvenile in the back seat were waiting on a friend who had come to visit his mother in one of the motel rooms. While speaking with the two people, Watson Brunson came out of one of the rooms and approached the Jeep. The report states that the officer asked Brunson what he was doing in the motel and the man said he was retrieving a phone charger.
The officer told Brunson that his story didn’t match the one told by the driver of the Jeep. The report states that Brunson then told the officer that he was there to purchase drugs from a person known as “Black.” Brunson reached in his pocket and pulled out a bag containing four grams of meth. Brunson was detained in the officer’s cruiser.
The report states that the occupants of the room came out of the motel while the officer was detaining Brunson and the other occupants of the Jeep. The officer made contact with a woman and Boyd. The officer explained to Boyd that Brunson told him that he had just purchased meth from Boyd. The report states that Boyd denied selling meth to Brunson.
The report states that Boyd was searched and he had a loaded .22 caliber pistol in his pocket along with $560. The report states that the woman was the responsible party for the room and allowed police to search. The search turned up 53.1 grams of methamphetamine. Boyd told police that the meth was his and he was selling it to support his addiction. Police also found 10 grams of marijuana wrapped in 15 packets. They also found 1.2 grams of cocaine and half a gram of heroin.
Brunson, 18, of a Ringgold address, was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. He was released from jail on a $2,500 bond and is due to appear in court on Jan. 16.
It is unclear when Boyd will appear in court.
