Choo Choo Bowl XXVll was a high scoring affair with Catholic outscoring Sale Creek 54-36 in an offense dominated contest.
The game, played on Billy Warren field at OLPH, is played annually in memory of the late Coach Don Waters. The festivities began when the Rams conducted their annual “Ram Walk” to the field led by a bagpipe player. Also on hand to add to the atmosphere was the OLPH/St. Jude band.
Players scoring for Catholic included Alex Osborne, Christian Robinson, Andy McGann, Connor McNamara, Jack McConnell and Luke Smith. Standout Osborne once again led the way with over 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Quarterback Colin Robinson threw two touchdown passes. Andy McGann also completed two passes.
Catholic’s dominating line was led by Christian Kidwell, George Gribben and Andrew Petrin. The Rams’ defense was led by Isha Davis and Cal Brown.
“This was a fun game, and a great atmosphere,” commented Catholic Coach Billy Dearing. “We were able to play all of our younger guys on defense, and several showed real promise.”
The half-time festivities included introductions and recognition of Catholic’s seven 8th grade players.
