_ 3604 Brainerd Rd.: Police were dispatched to the address early Sunday morning in regard to a a robbery and kidnapping. According to a police report, a Chattanooga officer working an off duty job at this address was approached by a man who said that he was just robbed at gunpoint. The man told the CPD officer that the incident happened on the on ramp to Interstate 24 at Germantown Road which is inside of East Ridge.
The victim told East Ridge police that at about 11 p.m. on Saturday night his car ran out of gas at the 183 mile marker on I-24 West and he coasted to the off ramp, which he thought would be a safe location to wait for assistance. At about midnight, the man said that a silver Dodge Caliber pulled up behind his car and that a “chubby” white male got out and approached him. The victim explained he was out of gas and asked for assistance.
According to the report, the victim said that the man pulled a pistol, pointed it at him and demanded the victim’s pants, which also contained his wallet along with $100 in cash. The victim said he took off his pants and handed them over. The victim told police that the man then pointed the gun at a woman who was inside the car and demanded that she get out and go with him. The woman complied with the man’s demands, the report states.
The report states that the man then told the victim that he was going to get him some gas and that they would be right back. The man also told the victim to not call police. The man then took off in his car in an unknown direction.
The report states that investigators responded to the scene to interview the victim. During this time, dispatch was able to “ping” the victim’s cell phone which was in possession of the woman passenger. The phone was “pinged” about three-quarters of a mile north of a cell tower in the 4300 block of 7th Avenue in East Lake. CPD officers checked the location and found the Dodge Caliber in the 3400 block of Clio Avenue.
According to the report, police attempted to contact the registered owner of the car but were unsuccessful. The female passenger in the victim’s car has been entered into a law enforcement data base as missing. There is currently no suspect information.
_ Chicken unleashed: Police were recently called to the area of Bennett Road and Tombras Avenue in response to a loose chicken. According to a police report, when an officer arrived he located the chicken at the intersection of the above address. The officer followed the chicken a short distance and was able to grab the fowl. Police returned the chicken to its owner, a Ms. Hernandez. The report states that the officer “helped re-secure the chicken to its lead and advised the owner that she was not allowed to keep a chicken in the City of East Ridge. Hernandez was told to make arrangements to find the chicken a new home outside of the city.
