According to a press release from the City of East Ridge, construction will begin on the long-awaited Exit 1 Interchange Reconfiguration, on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
This project will allow North-bound traffic exiting on to Ringgold Road easier access to the new Jordan Crossing shopping complex as well as Camp Jordan Park.
The newly configured exit ramps will combine both North-bound exits (1A & 1B) into one which will allow drivers to turn both East and West on Ringgold Road. Phase One, which will combine both exit ramps and access to Jordan Crossing and Camp Jordan Park, as well as an altered North-bound entrance ramp to I-75 is slated for a preliminary opening of November 30, 2017.
Traffic in the area of Exit 1 will be congested during construction. Drivers are cautioned to leave for their destinations earlier or find other detour routes.
Final completion of the $7 million project is slated for 240 calendar days, or approximately May 2, 2018.
