East Ridge police are investigating an incident in which a Belvoir Hills Drive woman accused a taxi driver of exposing himself to her.
According to a police report, late Sunday night officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Belvoir Hills Drive where a woman stated that an Uber driver had indecently exposed himself to her. The woman told police that she had been at a Chattanooga nightclub with her boyfriend and friends when she wanted to go home. Her boyfriend and friends stayed at the club.
The woman called Uber to arrange for a ride back to her house in East Ridge. The report states that when the driver pulled up to the woman’s house and put the car in park, he pulled his pants down exposing his genitals. The woman told police that the driver then said, “you’re not going anywhere until you do something about this.”
The report states that the woman then got out of the car and ran to a neighbor’s house. The woman called her boyfriend and told him of the incident and also told him that she didn’t have the house key to get inside their place. The report states that the boyfriend sent an Uber driver to deliver her the keys. According to the report, the woman said the Uber driver who delivered her the keys was the same man who allegedly exposed himself to her. The woman told police that she sent her neighbor out to get the house keys.
The report states that the neighbor got the tag number of the Uber driver’s car. The suspect driver was potentially identified through the ownership of the vehicle, the report states.
The Criminal Investigation Division of ERPD was notified of the incident as the call originated as a sex offense, the report states. The investigation is continuing.
_ 550 Wando Dr.: Police were called to the address late Tuesday evening in regard to a disorder. According to a police report, a young pregnant woman told police that her grandfather became angry after he asked her to move several items of hers including a baby’s car seat. According to the woman her grandfather cursed her and threw a phone hitting her in the head. The report states police could find no evidence of the woman having been struck in the head by a phone.
The grandfather told a different version of the story. According to the report, the grandfather said he asked the woman to pick up several items related to the unborn child. He said the woman gtot in his face and began cursing him. The grandfather told police that out of anger he threw a phone at her but did not hit her. The grandfather went on to say that the woman kicked her grandmother.
The report states that police were unable to determine a primary aggressor and determined that both parties were “mutual combatants.” All parties agreed to stay in their separate rooms for the night and not to interact with one another until everyone cooled off. No assault charges will be sought against the grandfather.
_ 908 Harris Lane: Police were called to the address on Thursday in regards to a theft. According to a police report, officers spoke with a man who told them that a friend had stolen some antique items from the home. The victim told officers that a friend who he had known for about a year had been hanging out at the residence for most of the day. The victim said he left the house from 8 to 11 p.m. When he returned he told officers that his friend was “walking throughout the house and appeared nervous.”
The victim told police that he took a shower at midnight and when he got out of the shower he noticed a bunch of his antique items were missing. The report states that the victim began telephoning and texting the friend but the friend would not answer. The victim said that his friend did not have a car so he left on foot or someone picked him up.
Items missing were a red jewelry box valued at $2,000, seven sugar shakers ($300 each), a vase worth $350 and a rose glass valued at $20.
According to the report, the friend was last seen wearing jeans, no shirt and a baseball hat over his red hair.
