Two masked men broke through the rear wall of Food City and burglarized the grocery store, early Monday morning.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the store at 6723 Ringgold Road at 4:15 a.m. in regard to a burglar alarm. When an officer went around to the back of the building he noticed a large hole had been knocked out in the cinder block wall leading into the office. Officers made their way into the building, clearing and securing it.
The report states that police saw several wires and pieces of electrical equipment cut and disabled in the rear of the office. There were also several wires cut at the boxes in the cash room area where the alarm was initially triggered.
The report states that investigators were shown security footage provided by management which shows two male suspects inside the store. Both men had their faces covered and were wearing gloves. One suspect caught on surveillance video was wearing a black hat with a star on the front, which was recovered in the parking lot by a detective.
According to the report, police located a possible entry/exit onto the property from the field adjacent ot the rear of the building leading toward St. Thomas Street. Police said the burglars did not make off with any cash or merchandise. The report states there is no additional information at this time.
_ 728 Frawley Rd.: Police responded to the address Friday morning in regard to a “home invasion.” According to a police report, an officer spoke with a male victim who told him that he was reclining on the bed with his girlfriend when he heard a loud noise coming from the front door. The victim said that Aaron Eaker entered the apartment, came into the bedroom and “jumped on” the victim, striking him in the face, head and stomach. The pair rolled onto the floor where the victim put Eaker into a headlock and pulled a knife on the suspect.
The victim’s girlfriend tried to the stop the fight and was knocked to the floor and struck on the lip, the report states. The woman told police that she was able to separate the men and walked outside to try and calm Eaker down. The report states that Eaker is her ex-boyfriend and she had moved out of his place on Monday morning and moved in with the victim later that same morning.
According to the report, after police interviewed the victims, the female victim told officers that she had received a text from Eaker saying that the wheel had fallen off his vehicle and that he was at Mack Smith and Ringgold Roads. The officer immediately went to the location and spoke with Eaker about the incident.
The report states that Eaker told police that he came into an open front door of the apartment and confronted both parties. Eaker said that the male victim came at him and he threw the first punch in self defense. He then left the scene.
According to the report, police characterized Eaker’s statement as “very vague and was not consistent with all of the evidence.”
Eaker, 23, of a Ringgold address, was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Burglary, Domestic Simple Assault and Simple Assault.
