_ 3715 Ringgold Rd.: Police were called to the Food City at the address on Tuesday morning to investigate a burglary of an auto. According to a police report, an officer spoke with a woman who was working inside the store who said that she discovered at about 8:30 a.m. that someone had entered her Chevy S10 pickup truck and took a work computer. The victim said that although her truck was locked, a window was cracked and the thief must have gained access in this way.
The victim explained that the computer was owned by her employer, Lewis Bakeries of Murfreesboro, and that the company had been able to track the computer via a GPS device. At 1 p.m. that afternoon, ERPD was notified by Chattanooga police that officers were out with two suspects in the theft who were located with the device inside the Waffle House on 23rd Street. The report states that a manager with Lewis Bakeries had tracked the device, responded to the location and confronted two men with the computer. One of the men, the manager said, handed over the computer.
An East Ridge officer spoke with both suspects, James Eason, 31, of Oliver Springs and 25-year-old Adam Gilreath of a 16th Avenue address. After reading the men Miranda warnings, the report states that Eason told police that he had picked up Gilreath that morning on Rossville Boulevard and he had the tablet at that time. Gilreath told police that he had indeed picked up Eason, but that Eason had the tablet at the time.
Both men were charged with Burglary of an Auto and Theft under $1,000. They are due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on March 14.
_ 5911 Ringgold Rd.: Police were dispatched to Tweety’s Automart, Tuesday night, on a “disorder with weapon” call reported by a bystander. According to a police report, when police arrived they spoke with a woman who said that her son had gotten into a fight with another man. The report states that the woman was not very cooperative in answering questions police had and refused to provide a written statement. The report states that both men involved in the fight, and the bystander who called in the report, were gone when police arrived.
The report states that the woman told officers that she had driven another man to Tweety’s for him to pick up his car. The woman told police the man got out of the car, left the passenger door open and refused to move and allow her to leave. The woman told officers she called her son on the phone and the man she dropped off began “hollering.”
The report states that the man “at some point grabbed a screwdriver from (the woman’s) vehicle, which she thought was a knife at first.” Shortly thereafter, the woman’s son arrived on the scene and the men began to scuffle. The woman’s son was put into a headlock by his adversary and was punched in the face several times. The report states that the woman tried to intervene and was pushed to the ground and sustained several bloody cuts to her arm.
The report states that the woman’s son gained an advantage and tried to get the other man to calm down. The son got up and left the scene in his car. However, as the son was driving off the other man threw something at the son’s vehicle then gave chase in his own car.
The report states that the woman did not want to press charges “and was upset that police were even called.” The report states that the woman provided police with the name of the suspect but little else in terms of helping track him down. There is no further suspect information at this time, the report states.
