One man was injured when fire damaged his home on Welworth Avenue early Wednesday morning.
According to a press release from the East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, firefighters responded to the house at 5901 Welworth at 12:08 a.m. Light smoke was coming from the house and the occupants were outside the structure. The fire, Chief Williams said in the press release, had been extinguished by the occupants of the home.
However, it was discovered that a man who lived there had received burns to his body during the incident. He was taken by Lifguard Ambulance to Erlanger hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.
Chief Williams said that the cause of the fire appears to have been hot grease from the kitchen stove which ignited. He said that the injured man tried to put the grease fire out by applying water to the flames. No other injuries were reported.
The home sustained minor damage from the grease fire, Chief Williams said.
