One person was airlifted to Erlanger after a single-car accident Saturday afternoon on Interstate 24.
According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, a wheel came off a vehicle traveling east-bound and struck the windshield of a vehicle traveling west at about 12:45 p.m.. The driver of the car that was struck by the tire was trapped inside the vehicle.
Chief Williams said emergency personnel worked for about 30 minutes to free the driver of the crashed car. Life Force air ambulance transported the injured driver to Erlanger. Chief Williams said there is no information about the condition of the injured driver.
