If you like classic cars _ or even better are a proud owner of one _ The Corner Cafe might be the place to hang out this Saturday evening after all the SEC football games.
The popular restaurant on Ringgold Road is hosting it’s annual Cruise-In, said owner Melissa Davenport.
“Anybody can bring their car up here, we’d love to have you,” she said while serving up brunch to a couple of regulars. “We’ll have some ‘old’ music; no band or anything … we’ll just be playing some good music.”
Last year there were more than a dozen cars, including a ’47 Buick and a beautiful ’53 Chevy BelAir. Davenport said Larry Clark will roll out his ’67 Camaro for this special occasion.
Davenport said the event has been a lot of fun over the last several years, giving people a chance to hang out, admire some cars and have a bite to eat.
On Saturday, Davenport said that she’s going to serve up some homemade potato chips. “I used the (East Ridge) fire department guys as guinea pigs,” she said. “They certainly seemed to like them, so I guess they are alright.”
In addition, the Cafe will be offering up the famous “Sauce Burger,” a unique burger that was only available at the legendary Burger House, now, unfortunately, only a distant memory. But Melissa has the recipe and does a fine job replicating it.
Other items not typically on the menu will be available as well.
Prizes will be awarded at the Cruise-In, she said, compliments of Advanced Auto.
The Cruise-In will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Corner Cafe at 3920 Ringgold Road.
