Polk County broke a 21-game losing streak by beating East Ridge, 35-28, Friday night at Shanks Field/Raymond James Stadium.
Logan Griswold carried the ball 40 times for the Wildcats racking up 200 yards rushing. Polk County had 320 yards of total offense compared to East Ridge’s 247.
Kashawn Cosey accounted for much of the Pioneers’ offense and scoring, finishing the night with 120 yards rushing. He scored on a 72-yard run for the Pioneers on its first possession and had a 23-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Cosey caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Eric Bennett in the fourth quarter of the game.
Lorenzo Stewart accounted for East Ridge’s other score on a 65-yard jaunt in the first quarter.
East Ridge will host Brainerd this Friday night and try to get new head coach Tim James his first win on the young season.
