A report of a possibly intoxicated motorcycle rider led to the arrest of a man on drug charges, Monday.
Randall Rounsaville, 28, of a Bimini Place address in East Ridge, was charged with Possession of Schedule II Drugs for Resale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. It is not clear when he is due to appear in municipal court.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Ringgold Road at 10:15 p.m. on a reported intoxicated party. The complainant told police that the man appeared to be drunk inside the store and he was getting onto his motorcycle and leaving the parking lot.
The report states, “in an effort to prevent a possibly intoxicated person from operating a motor vehicle upon the roadways” police initiated contact to find out if the man was impaired. The man was identified as Rounsaville and police determined that the man was not intoxicated.
However, police discovered that Rounsaville was operating the motorcycle without a drivers license nor proper endorsement. The man told officers that he had bought the Harley Davidson six months ago from a person in Georgia. Rounsaville told police that he had been “unable” to get a license, nor register the bike.
The report states that officers initiated a tow of the motorcycle and began to issue Rounsaville citations from driving without a license and not having the bike registered. In the process of towing the bike, officers discovered a “fanny pack.” The report states that for the safety of the officers, police asked Rounsaville if they could take a look inside the pack. He complied, the report states.
When officers opened the “fanny pack” they found a large amount of Suboxone Sublingual Strips (Buprenorphine) and $1,452 dollars in U.S. Currency. The man told police the strips belonged to his wife, who he claimed had a valid prescription.
The report states that police continued to search the pack and came up with a “suspected drug ledger,” a capped needle and some baggies that are commonly used in the illicit drug business.
When police took Rounsaville into custody, the report states that officers found $663 in his pocket and a pair of brass knuckles.
The report states that police seized the Harley Davidson motorcycle, the drugs and $2,115 in cash.
