_ 6104 N. Mack Smith Rd.: Officers were dispatched to a suspicious person asleep at the entrance of the Dialysis Clinic on Thursday. According to a police report, when officers arrived they found Ronnie McDaniel asleep. When police awakened the man, they took him into custody for Criminal Trespass. The report states that McDaniel had been issued a warning for sleeping on the property on Aug. 2. McDaniel is using the location due to the outside power outlets. The report states that when McDaniel was searched incident to arrest, an officer found a small baggie with a white powder substance believed to be methamphetamine.
McDaniel is currently in the Hamilton County Jail as a result of a failure to appear charge out of Hamilton County.
_ 639 Camp Jordan Parkway: On Tuesday, officers responded to the Bass Pro Shops in regard to a child who was locked in a vehicle. According to a police report, when an officer arrived he spoke with a man who explained that after he put his child in the car and started it, he went to put his buggy into the storage area. In the few moments he was away, his two-year-old great grandchild hit the lock button in the car locking the man out of the vehicle.
East Ridge Fire Department Battalion Chief Billy Quintrell arrived moments after Officer Cory Cleek did, the report states. Quintrell promptly opened the door using a specialized wedge and metal rod device, freeing the child from the locked vehicle. The report noted that the child was never in any danger as the car was running with the air conditioner on.
_ 1426 South Moore Rd.: Police were dispatched to Ankar’s Billiards, Monday, in regard to a theft. According to a police report, when an officer arrived he spoke with an employee who told him that a man came inside and spoke for more than 45 minutes about buying pool tables and cues because he was planning on opening a bar. The employee told police that he stepped into the businesses’ office for a moment and upon returning saw the man trying to steal a Rage pool cue, McDermott pool cue and a pool cue case. The store employee yelled at the man and was able to get the items back.
The report states that the suspect got into the passenger seat of a red VW with Georgia tags being driven by a white female. The employee told the officer that he was almost struck by the vehicle as it sped from the lot.
The report states that the Ankar’s employee is unclear if the suspect was able to make off with any merchandise from the store. However, the suspect did leave behind some belongings that were collected by police and placed into property and evidence. The report states that the value of the items that the suspect attempted to steal was $180.
