_3502 Bennett Rd.: Police responded to the address Tuesday on a reported assault. According to a police report, officers spoke with a woman who told them that she and her boyfriend, Zachary Suttles, had been staying at a house on Connelly Lane where they had been arguing. She told police that when she attempted to smoke a cigarette during the argument that Suttles punched her in the chest. The victim said that when she tried to gather her things to leave Suttles punched her again, pulled her hair and punched her in the mouth chipping one of her teeth.
The report states that Suttles gathered the woman’s belongings, put them outside and told her to leave. A neighbor saw the incident and called police.
Suttles told officers that the couple had argued. He asked her to leave and that she was the aggressor, hitting him in the face. Afterwards, Suttles said, she left and he went to bed.
The report states that police saw red abrasions on the victim’s chest and face. Officers also observed the woman’s chipped tooth and her torn shirt. Suttles had no sign of injury on his face.
Suttles was arrested for Domestic Assault and taken to the Hamilton County Jail.
_ Police have charged a Rossville man and a woman with Theft over $1,000 after allegedly stealing a car from a woman who had given them a lift.
According to a police report, on July 29, a woman reported that her red Saturn had been stolen from 4011 Ringgold Road. The woman said that she had been in the 3700 block of Sullivan Avenue and allowed three people to ride with her to the gas station. While she was inside the gas station, a female passenger with blonde hair, later identified as Jennifer Gill, got int he driver’s seat and took off. The incident was captured on video cameras at the store, the report states.
Officers went to an address on Sullivan Avenue and spoke with a man who said he knew the couple. The woman, he said was Jenni Gill and the man he only knew as “Josh.”
Later the same day, an East Ridge officer spotted the stolen car on Brainerd Road. A man with multiple tattoos was driving and a blonde woman was in the passenger’s seat. The report states that the officer attempted to stop the car on South Howell but the driver fled at a high rate of speed and drove onto Interstate 24 west, where the pursuit was discontinued.
When the officer got back to police headquarters, he was able to identify the driver as Joshua Bassham, 26, of a Century Station Drive address, from police records. The officer also found out that Bassham’s girlfriend was listed as Jenni Gill on his Facebook status.
On Monday, the officer spotted Bassham and Gill walking north on John Ross Road at Ringgold Road. The report states that the pair were stopped, as Bassham had outstanding warrants through the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the auto theft investigation.
The report states that Bassham took off on foot but was apprehended a short distance away.
After advising Gill of her Miranda Rights, she told officers that she took the car from 4011 Ringgold Road. She further stated that Bassham later began driving the car with the knowledge they did not have permission from the victim.
_ 6926 Glen Errol Way: Police were dispatched to the address, July 30, on a disorder. According to a police report, when officers arrived they spoke with a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had pulled a gun on her and stolen her car.
The woman told police that she had allowed her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Demarlon Walker, to spend the night with her. According to the report, when they got up the next morning, Walker wanted the woman to take him to work and a disorder ensued over Walker being with other women. The victim then got Walker’s belongings, put them outside the house along with Walker and locked the door.
The report states that Walker then “popped the lock” to the front door with a credit card and entered the bathroom where the victim was sitting on the toilet holding her daughter. The victim told police that Walker barged in and “started to strangle her,” causing her to fall in the tub while still holding the child.
The report states that the altercation continued into the living room, where the victim said that Walker threw her around and bit her on the right side of her face.
Walker then ran to the car, the report states. When he came back into the house he was holding a revolver with a brown grip and said “come on.” The victim and Walker then walked outside and the victim started pounding on the neighbor’s door telling the neighbor to call police.
The report states that at this point Walker got into the car and fled the scene.
Walker was located at his workplace on Amnicola Highway by Chattanooga Police, the report states. The victim’s car was found at his address on Pinewood Drive.
Walker waived his Miranda Rights, the report states, and admitted to police that he took the vehicle and the victim’s phone. He also admitted to breaking into the house after having been locked out by the victim. Walker denied pulling a gun.
Walker, 26, of a Towerway Drive address in Chattanooga, was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Domestic Assault and Theft.
