On behalf of the East Ridge High School Alumni Association, I would like to thank our elected officials who worked fastidiously upon the condemnation and demolition of the East Ridge High School Football stadium in search of a quick resolution in support of the ERHS High School Football program.
Specifically, County Commissioner Tim Boyd, ERHS ’70, lead a successful effort and coordinated with East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert and School Board member David Testerman to quickly find funding for replacement of the home side bleachers and press box. This is how government should work, quickly and responsively.
This was a great example of elected officials coming together for a common goal in support of a community. Thank you Commissioner Boyd, School Board member Testerman and Mayor Lambert for your support.
Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, the demolition of the ERHS stadium has brought new life to our community. It has also served as the catalyst to bring old friends and schoolmates back together in support of East Ridge High School and the city of East Ridge in general.
We are seeing some very exciting things evolving in East Ridge and the community is coming back together.
Last fall a group of alumni came together to form a non-profit support organization comprised of East Ridge High School Alumni and focused on, not just the football program, but the school and community which are a very large and significant part of our lives. Our small group has now grown into a large group.
This weekend marks the first of many annual all class reunion weekends to provide a means for fellowship and camaraderie in support of East Ridge High School. We have had responses from all over the country who plan to participate. On Friday, August 5 we are sponsoring a golf tournament, followed by an evening event with food and entertainment at the Renaissance property off of Mack Smith Road. On Saturday, we will be entertained by nationally acclaimed comedians and ERHS alumni, Ken Sons, Les Mccurdy and Jim Brick at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center.

Again, thank you Commissioner Boyd and all of our other elected officials who have been so supportive of our community effort.
_ Bobby Hudgens,
ERHS ‘74 ERHS Alumni Association President
