_ 6723 Ringgold Road: Police were called to the Bi-Lo on Sunday evening to investigate a case of criminal simulation. According to a police report, officers spoke with a woman who told them that she had been at the Flea Market when she was approached by a black male. The man told her that he worked for Apple and that he selling Ipad Air 2s in a special promotion. The report states that the man told the victim that the devices retail for $900, but that he would sell her two of them for $200 each. The report states that the victim thought that was a “good deal” so she completed the transaction. When the victim got home and opened the boxes, she found that each box contained a piece of cement tile. Investigators obtained a surveillance video from Bi-Lo in an attempt to identify the suspect.
_ 6712 Ringgold Road: Police were called to Public Storage on Tuesday evening on reported vandalism. According to a police report, officers spoke with an employee who told them that during a morning “walk through” it was determined that several units had damaged doors. The report states that it is unknown if any of the units had been entered and had items stolen. The units reported vandalized were A036, B013, B018, C021, C102, C027, D001 and D110. The report states that the employee would contact the people who rent the units and notify them of the situation.
Several reports have been made by individuals renting units at the business during the past week, and those reports indicate that items were indeed taken from the units. Among the items reported stolen where electronics, TVs and in one case a china set.
_ 1509 McDonald Rd.: An officer was dispatched to the Mapco on Ringgold Road early Wednesday morning in regard to an assault. According to a police report, a female met the officer and reported that she had been robbed and assaulted as she returned to her nearby residence on McDonald Road. The victim told officers that she had left her job at the laundromat at about 1 a.m., went by the McDonald’s and then to Mapco. She then went to her home where she claimed she was confronted by an unknown man in her backyard, where the rear porch light was turned off. The report states that the suspect told her go give him her money which she kept in a small purse inside her shirt. The suspect, the victim told officers, then struck her in the face with what she believed was a metal bar. The victim’s face, the report states, showed a swollen and split lip. The victim told officers that after she was struck she gave more than $100 to the suspect. She said she dropped her other belongings and ran back to the Mapco. The report states that officers went to the victim’s McDonald Road residence and found a backpack, spilled change, food and other items strewn around the back yard. The victim could only give a limited description of her alleged attacker, the report states. The victim could only describe the suspect as white, tall, thin and with a raspy voice. The victim told officers that the suspect’s voice sounded familiar but that she could not place it.
