FarleyCon Slated for Saturday

FarleyCon will be held this Saturday, April 30, at 410 Scruggs Road at the UEW wrestling building.

FarleyCon is a benefit toy, comic and wrestling show to help the family of Jared Allen. We will have vendors selling toys and comics, Artists, Cosplay artists and wrestling.

The toy/comic show hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with wrestling from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Admission to all events is $5 for adults and children 10 and under are free with paid adult.

All money from dealer table rentals and admission is going to Jared’s family.

Jared Allen died suddenly from a short illness on February 10.He is survived by his wife, Teresa; three sons, Bishop, Deacon, Jaxon.
Jared Allen sold comics, games and toys and wrestled for many years in the Chattanooga area at flea markets, antique malls, comic book shops and at conventions. Jared had a dream about doing a toy/wrestling show for years.

About Dick Cook

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter. Dick covered everything from prep sports to the whitewater events on the Ocoee River for the 1996 Olympics. When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
