Day Shift April 2
25-003462 – 5800 BLK Ringgold Road- Traffic Crash with Injuries – The East Ridge Police and Fire Departments responded to a traffic crash with injury and entrapment at 5816 Ringgold Road at approximately 1320 HRS on April 2, 2025. Officers and firefighters immediately began working to treat the severe injuries sustained by a U-Haul employee, later identified as Jason Bishop, 42. The driver of the crashed vehicle was also extracted from his vehicle. Both parties were transported via ambulance for medical treatment. East Ridge Fire and Police, along with Chattanooga Fire, and Hamilton County EMS, worked for several hours to safely contain a propane leak caused by the crash. The measures undertaken were successful in mitigating the explosive/fire hazard present at the scene.
East Ridge Police Department Traffic Investigators, assisted by Chattanooga Police Department’s Traffic team, began the painstaking task of documenting, recording, and collecting evidence while other officers worked to restore the flow of traffic. The investigators worked until the early morning hours to conduct a thorough examination.
We are saddened to announce that Mr. Bishop passed away from his injuries despite the best efforts of on scene personnel and hospital staff. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and coworkers. The East Ridge Police Department is currently investigating the crash resulting in the death of Jason Bishop. As such, no other information will be released until such time that the investigation is concluded.
25-003454- 1300 BLK Boyd St– Assist Animal Control – Police were dispatched to this address to assist ERAS with enforcing proper animal care and accountability practices. On a prior occasion, the resident attempted to surrender two puppies to animal control, stating they did not belong to her. After being instructed to return the puppies to their rightful owner, the animals were later discovered by a passerby on Bennett Rd. The owner was unable to provide any information regarding the alleged owners and was subsequently cited for misdemeanor animal abandonment.
25-003456 – 3900 BLK Ringgold Road – Disorder – Officers responded on a report of a disorder. On arrival, officers located a woman and her fiancé outside the business. Both parties alleged that the staff abused their dog after grabbing his collar. Video footage found no evidence of animal abuse and the couple were issued a criminal trespass warning at the business owner’s request.
25-003460 200 BLK Frawley Road – Backup Fire – East Ridge Police stood by while East Ridge Fire treated a vehicle fire.
25-003463 – 4200 BLK Spriggs St – Violation of Conditions of Release – Officers met the reporting party at the East Ridge Police Department where she reported that her son had arrived at her residence earlier that day, violating his current conditions of release. In response, officers proceeded to the listed address and located the suspect hiding between a couch and a chair in an upstairs bedroom. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Hamilton County Jail.
Night Shift April 2
25-003474 – 700 BLK State Line Road – Noise Complaint – An anonymous caller reported dogs barking in the area. Police attempted contact at the residence with the dog on State Line Road, but no one answered. Officers requested East Ridge Animal Services follow up during normal operating hours to issue a warning about excessive barking.
25-003478 – 1400 BLK Boyd Street – Unknown 911 – A woman called police after her boyfriend drove himself to seek medical care while experiencing symptoms consistent with a heart attack. Police interdicted the driver on the way to the hospital and assisted the patient into the emergency room.
25-003479 – 4214 Ringgold Road – Citizen Assist – A female driver parked at the police department following a road rage incident where an older model white Ford Escape followed her from I-75. The driver was apparently angry at her for honking the horn. Police checked the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
25-003481 – 4200 BLK Ringgold Road – Citizen Assist – A man abandoned personal belongings, amounting to three garbage bags worth of items, inside the gas station. Officers assisted in removing the abandoned property after advising the clerk to photograph the mess, and inform their management for the purpose of issuing a criminal trespass advisory.
