The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced today via a press release, that bridge construction linking East Ridge with Brainerd should be completed by Monday, November 25.
According to TDOT, beginning Monday, at 6 a.m., Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will officially open the new South Moore Road and McBrien Road bridges over I-24 in Hamilton County more than two months ahead of schedule, providing a major upgrade to the area’s transportation infrastructure.
These bridges were reconstructed as part of the $161 million Phase 2 to improve the I-75 at I-24 interchange and will accommodate the widening of I-24 underneath.
The South Moore bridge will consist of a total of five lanes, including one lane in each direction, a northbound left turn lane and two southbound left turn lanes. There will be a bike lane and shoulder on each side along with a sidewalk in both directions to accommodate pedestrians.
The McBrien bridge will have four lanes comprised of a through lane and left turn lane in each direction. Like the South Moore bridge, it will also have a bike lane and sidewalk in both directions.
“Completing the new South Moore Road and McBrien Road bridges over I-24 is a major project milestone” said Danny Oliver, assistant chief engineer for TDOT in Region 2. “Opening them both ahead of schedule is a collaborative effort and testament to the effectiveness of the project’s alternative delivery team.”
