The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) at Chattanooga State Community College will open its doors to prospective students and other community members on Tuesday, June 11, during its TCAT Open House.
Potential students hoping to learn more about TCAT programs, admissions, registration, and financial aid — along with their parents or guardians — are invited to tour campus and meet with advisors and instructors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Prospective students are invited to take a closer look at the many opportunities available at ChattState’s TCAT. Whether it’s getting behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler simulator, voting on “Bridgerton” hairstyles in the cosmetology department, or receiving a blood pressure test from a medical assisting student, the TCAT open house has something for everyone. Chattanooga’s Power 94 (WJTT) will also broadcast live from the open house.
TCAT’s hands-on technical programs lead to diplomas and certificates in a variety of high-demand fields like Computer Support, Industrial Maintenance Mechatronics, Medical Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Welding Technology. Many programs can be completed in one year or less.
“Attending our open house is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to explore the programs we offer and see firsthand the state-of-the-art facilities and equipment available to our students,” said Bo Drake, Vice President of ChattState’s TCAT and Economic and Workforce Development Divisions. “By enrolling in one of our programs, students are positioning themselves for long-term success in their chosen fields.”
TCAT at ChattState students are eligible to join the National Technical Honor Society and participate in SkillsUSA, a skills-based competition that offers some winners scholarships, tools, and even job placement. In 2024, 61 TCAT at ChattState students competed in 34 contests at the state level, with 45 bringing home medals.
With plentiful financial aid options, many ChattState students can graduate with little-to-no college debt. Recent Tennessee high school graduates can apply for Tennessee Promise to enroll in any program, and adult learners can apply for Tennessee Reconnect. Tennessee residents are also eligible to apply for the Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant.
