_ 5422 Sunny Dell Lane: Police were dispatched to the address, Monday, on an assault call. According to an affidavit of complaint, a witness in the area had called and told dispatchers that a white male was beating a woman. When police arrived they made contact with the suspect, Caleb Windsor Smith, 23, and several witnesses. The report states that the officer went inside the house and found the female victim locked inside a bathroom. When the woman came out of the bathroom the officer noticed a broken mirror hanging on the wall. The report states that the victim told the officer that she is three months pregnant and had been assaulted by Smith, her brother. The victim told the officer that she and Smith had gotten into an argument over the “pool cover” and he got extremely angry and slapped her in the face. The report states that Smith then dragged her around the yard by her hands and at one point was on top of her. The report states that the officer noticed redness to the right cheek of the victim’s face, and also red marks on her arms consistent with her being grabbed. The report states that the officer spoke with Smith who said he had argued with his sister and when she cursed him he said, “and of course like we all have, I tried to pop her in the mouth.” It was noted that the suspect is three times the size of his sister. The report states that the officer determined Smith was the primary aggressor and took him into custody for Domestic Assault. The victim complained of her stomach cramping but denied transport to the hospital. The report states that the officer spoke with a witness who said she saw Smith on top of the victim “swinging wildly.” Smith is due in municipal court on March 22.
_ 324 Camp Jordan Dr.: Police were dispatched to the address Monday on an assault call. According to an affidavit of complaint, an officer spoke with a crying female victim who said she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Paul Terry. Officers spoke with Terry who said he had been living with the victim for six years. Terry said his girlfriend became angry with him when she discovered a picture had fallen off the wall and she believed he had broken it intentionally. Terry, the report states, denied any physical altercation took place. The report states that officers observed a “white chalky residue” around his mouth, he was slurring his speech and his pupils were wide even in a well lighted area. The report states that an officer spoke with the victim, who said that she had noticed several of her prescription xanax pills were missing. She told officers that she suspected Terry of taking them while she was asleep. The victim told officers that she confronted Terry with the pill bottle in her hand, and that he became violent and grabbed her in an attempt to get the pill bottle. She said that Terry shoved her to the floor where she fell onto a round table inside a bedroom. The report states that police noted injuries to the victim consistent with what she was telling them. In a written statement, the victim wrote that Terry threatened to kill her if she called police. Terry was arrested for Domestic Assault and is due to appear in municipal court on March 1. The victim, who complained of her lower back hurting, was taken to Parkridge East hospital to be evaluated, the report states.
_ 201 Eads St.: Police were dispatched to the address Saturday on a domestic assault. According to an affidavit of complaint, when the officer arrived he made contact with a man who was standing with a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department sergeant. The 52-year-old man told the officer that he and his mother had been arguing. He said that he did not move when his mother came toward him and that he “pumped his chest out at her two times.” The report states that this caused the woman to stumble backwards and fall, hurting her hip and left leg. The report states that the woman is “not very stable on her feet,” as she has had a history of surgeries to her left leg and had her left knee replaced. Fire and medical personnel were called to the scene, but the woman refused treatment. The report states that the sheriff’s deputy had received calls earlier on the day for this apartment and the caller had told dispatchers that the suspect could be heard slamming doors and yelling at the victim. The report states that the suspect stated that he did scream and slam a door earlier, and he did indeed “pumped his chest at his mother,” but denied ever causing her to fall. The report states that the suspect, Johnny Ray Baker, told the officers that he has a criminal history of domestic assaults. Baker was taken into custody for Domestic Assault and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. He is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on March 1.
