_ 6510 Ringgold Rd.: Police were dispatched to the address on Feb. 12 on a delayed report on an auto theft. According to a police report, officers spoke with a man and woman who told them they had given a lift to a woman named “Becky” to a Rossville, Ga. convenience store earlier in the day. While at the convenience store, “Becky” had demanded that the male victim get out of the car so that she could drive. The man told police he got out of the car at that time. The female victim told officers that she also got out of the car because she was uncomfortable staying in the car with “Becky.” The report states that both victims attempted to contact “Becky” following the incident but were unsuccessful. The victims said that the black 2004 Nissan Altima had all their personal belongings inside, including a motorized wheelchair valued at $5,000.
The report states that police saw a vehicle matching the description of the Nissan at 639 Camp Jordan Road at the America’s Best Value Inn, and escorted the victims there to retrieve the car. While on the scene police made contact with the suspect, who said the keys were likely inside a first-floor room at the motel and in the possession of another woman. Police went to the room and spoke with the woman who gave officers permission to search the room for the keys. The woman denied having the keys, the report states. The report states that the woman called a man, who told her that the keys may be inside the toilet tank of the room, implying they were placed there by “Becky.” With the woman inside the room’s assistance, police recovered the keys to the vehicle from the toilet tank and gave them back to the victims. The victim’s motorized wheelchair was subsequently located in the trunk of the car.
The victims were advised by ERPD to file a report with the Rossville Police Department if they wished to pursue any potential criminal charges.
_ Police were called to Ealy Road Monday on a call from a woman who said she had been assaulted by her son. The suspect had left before police arrival. According to an affidavit of complaint, the victim told officers that she and her son argued over him leaving the kitchen in a mess. The victim told officers that her son, Tyler Lynn Garner, had become “overly aggressive” and began yelling at her. The victim told Garner to move away from her but he kept bumping her with his shoulder. The report states that the victim then pushed Garner away from her, at which point Garner asked her for to “give his check to him.” The victim told Garner that the check didn’t come until the first of the month. The report states that the victim alleged Garner then grabbed her by the face and pushed her head into the kitchen cabinetry causing her to bump the back of her head. Later on Monday evening, the victim called police back later that night and told police that Garner had returned to the house and was in the shower. Garner was taken into custody for Domestic Assault and taken to the Hamilton County Jail under a $2,500 bond. He is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on May 10.
