The Chattanooga Red Wolves will host a U.S. Open Cup match for the first time in club history this April. The match will be against the USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC at CHI Memorial Stadium in a Second Round matchup. All US Open Cup Second Round matches will be played from April 4 to April 6. The specific day and time of the match will be announced at a later date. Season Ticket Holders will be given presale access to purchase tickets for the matchup.
U.S. Soccer has announced the pairings and hosting scenarios for the Second Round of the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer’s National Championship. Twenty-four Division II and 22 Division III pro teams will see their first tournament action, joining 14 First Round winners in a Second Round that will feature 30 matches across the country.

“What a great day in Red Wolves history. Hosting an Open Cup match for the first time in our history is something our club and our fans have desired, to host it during our fifth year anniversary season makes it even better,” McDaniel said. “Drawing Birmingham should provide for a very entertaining match and make it one of the early marquee games.”
Now in its 108th edition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer’s National Championship – has crowned a champion since 1914 in every year except 2020 and 2021. The history-filled tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
After reaching the USL League One Final in 2022, the Red Wolves kick off their 2023 USL League One season at CHI Memorial Stadium on March 25 against Northern Colorado Hailstorm
