On Tuesday, during their monthly meeting, the City Commission of Lakesite officially donated $25,000 to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to be used to assist with our ongoing recruitment efforts.
“The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is very appreciative of this generous donation from the City of Lakesite and we value our partnership with their City Commission,” said Sheriff Austin Garrett. “This monetary contribution will be used to enhance our ongoing, deliberate efforts to recruit successful, qualified, candidates to serve within our ranks and our community.”
The HCSO contractually serves as the primary law enforcement agency for the City of Lakesite and provides routine guidance and monthly reports to the city’s administration and elected body pertaining to law enforcement operations.
“Lakesite was blessed to have Ken Wilkerson serve our citizens for 24 years as a commissioner, Mayor, and Vice Mayor. Unfortunately, Ken Wilkerson passed away last month and one of the last requests he made of Lakesite was to support the first responders he loved so much. Lakesite is honored to grant Ken’s request by making a $25,000 donation to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office,”stated Lakesite Mayor David Howell. “We hope that the County Sheriff can use this money to help recruit the best personnel possible and continue the great work his agency does. Our prayers are for the continued safety of all our deputies and first responders and we hope this gift in Ken’s name will help you achieve even greater success,” he further noted.
The City of Lakesite recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary and the HCSO was proud to participate in that celebration.
