The citizen of East Ridge MUST HAVE a voice when it comes to decisions that are being made by the City Council. Far too often, the voice of our citizens completely falls on deaf ears. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
The current and previous administrations do not care about the citizens of East Ridge. They have not found the necessity to listen to what our citizen have to say or what the day-to-day issues are. Shoot! half of the city employees don’t even reside in East Ridge. What’s EXTREMELY important is the ability to make the right decisions at the city council meetings of East Ridge so that the entirety of East Ridge can be adequately represented and deserving of the neighborhood they chose to live in.
Our City Council has a record of only voting for – or against – issues that are influenced by the city manager, and ignoring what is beneficial to the citizens of our great city.
The council members and the mayor were elected by the citizens of East Ridge to govern and represent all of their constituents. The city manager is an outdated, over-paid position that serves at the pleasure of the council. This position holds no vote or authority in regards to the council’s rulings. This position must be evaluated and reviewed if we are going to progress foreword. The citizens deserve better.
I BELIVE that the citizens of East Ridge deserve and should expect to have a meaningful voice in EVERY issue that is presented before the council, therefor requiring the elected council to govern, vote, and, act on EVERY matter. The citizens deserve to be heard. As a neighbor living in East Ridge for almost 50 years, “I hear ya.” I know what issues and struggles we neighbors deal with on a daily basis and I promise I will do my best to represent every one of those matters.
It’s time that East Ridge wakes up and understands our challenges and successes. “WE” as a city have an awesome opportunity to succeed. After all we are “The Pioneers of Progress.” This small town (only the 11th largest in Tennessee) can recognize the potential that it once had. We have an enormous quantity of opportunities; let’s utilize it. East Ridge was once the greatest suburb of Chattanooga; why did that change or fail? You have my promise that I will work diligently to bring that back.
As a member of the East Ridge City Council, I promise I will be the voice of all of my constituents, the citizens of East Ridge, my neighbors. “Your voice will be heard!”
I will diligently serve the Citizens of East Ridge and I promise to not be a “politician” or one of the “Good ol’ Boys.” What I will be is your neighbor; you know, Bob, in line at the grocery. I’ll be the sounding board when things foul up with the city. I’ll be the one who will listen to your issues and struggles (remember I’m your neighbor), but most importantly I WILL BE your councilman. I will hear your voice and I will listen.
We deserve a great neighborhood to reside in. Let me help put East Ridge back to its former glory, one of the most desired suburbs of Chattanooga.
We might not agree on every single issue, and that’s what makes a community work. I can, however, promise you that I will represent you to the fullest of my ability and I will do my absolute best to understand and address your needs and concerns.
It’s time East Ridge gets its voice back. It’s time to take control or our neighborhood. It’s time you had a voice. On November, 8 a vote for me is a vote for you. You need Robert E. Gilreath as your next Councilman: a True representative, a True Pioneer of Progress!
Thank you for your vote, and I look forward to serving as your next Councilmember, and neighbor .
_ Robert E Gilreath, Candidate for East Ridge City Council
