An East Ridge woman has been charged with Domestic Assault after her boyfriend with a bloody face sought help from a next door neighbor.
According to an affidavit of complaint, police were called to the 700 block of Summit Avenue early Wednesday morning in reference to assisting with a medical call. The report states that a man called police after his neighbor showed up at his front door bleeding from his face pleading with the neighbor to “call police.”
The officer spoke with a woman, later identified as April Michelle Stubblefield, who was standing in the driveway. Stubblefield told the officer that she and her fiance had been drinking and they got into a verbal argument that turned violent. Police spoke with the fiance who corroborated Stubblefield’s story. The report states that police observed “three, fresh, deep scratch marks on the right side of (the fiance’s) neck and a chunk of skin missing from his left check.”
The fiance told officers that after the altercation Stubblefield picked up the couple’s seven-year-old daughter, took her out of the residence and placed the child in her car with Stubblefield’s sister. The man told officers that he shut and locked the front door only to have Stubblefield retrieve a hatchet and start striking the door, attempting to retrieve her cell phone that was inside the house.
The man told police that he retreated to the bedroom, shut the door and waited for police. The report states that officers saw the hatchet in the front yard next to a tree and several marks on the front door, consistent with having been struck by a hatchet.
Stubblefield was arrested and jailed on a charge of Domestic Assault. She is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on March 1.
_ On Jan. 22, police were dispatched to Parkridge East Hospital on Spring Creek Road on a reported armed robbery. According to a police report, officers spoke with a female victim who told them she was walking across the parking lot to her car just before noon when she was accosted by a man in a gray four-door Oldsmobile. The woman told officers when she walked past the car the man rolled the window down, pointed a black pistol at her and demanded that she get inside the car. Once inside the car, the man demanded her wallet. The report states that the victim told officers that the man rifled through her wallet, which contained more than $300 in cash and credit cards. The report states that the suspect told the woman to get out of the car.
The report states that when the woman was inside the car, she saw some mail inside with names on it. She also provided investigators with a description of the man and the car’s license plate number. East Ridge police is working in conjunction with Chattanooga PD to apprehend the suspect.
_ 5700 Roper St.: An officer was dispatched to ERPD headquarters on Jan. 25 to speak with a man who said his car was burglarized. According to a police report, the officer spoke with a man who said someone broke into his Chevy Blazer between 1 and 6:30 a.m. on the same day. The man told officers that the thief took a computer backpack containing an Amazon Kindle Fire which contained personal information of his patients. The thief also took his child support payment checks, a coat, wireless Bluetooth headphones and new massage therapy textbooks. The report states that the thief may have taken another computer, which the victim states may be back at his house, which he had not returned to prior to filing the report.
_ 387 Alice Dr.: Police responded to the address on Jan. 23 on a report of a stolen car. According to a report, the victim told officers he had gone to the address just after noon to check on his daughter who lives there. When he went inside the residence, he left his 2008 Hummer running on the road outside the house. When he went out the door five minutes later, the vehicle was gone. The report states that the victim left his wallet inside the vehicle, along with a .38-cal revolver inside the glove compartment. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen.
_ 6728 Ringgold Rd.: Police were dispatched to Camping World on a theft of a camper. According to a police report, an employee of the business told officers that a camper brought in for service had been stolen. The man told police that the camper, a 2015 21-foot Coleman camper valued at $15,000, was on the lot on Dec. 25 awaiting parts to be serviced. When part of the property flooded on Christmas Day, it was moved next to a fence near Ringgold Road. The employee told police that when the parts for the camper arrived employees discovered the camper had been stolen.
