After a distinguished 38-year career in law enforcement, East Ridge Police Chief Stan Allen said goodbye to law enforcement. 

Local officials, co-workers, and invited guests attended a special reception at East Ridge Community Center on Thursday afternoon to bid him farewell and wish him the best on his retirement.

“We are sad to see Chief Allen leave, but very happy for him to transition into retirement,” said East Ridge Mayor Brian Williams.  “We wish him the very best and we thank him tremendously for his service, dedication and leadership of our Police Department.”

Allen started his law enforcement career with the Chattanooga Police Department in 1984.  He took an early retirement in 2012 to accept a position in the private sector.  In April 2015, Allen joined the East Ridge Police Department as Assistant Chief prior to being appointed Police Chief in 2019.  Allen is also a graduate of the distinguished FBI Academy, the world’s premier law enforcement and research center. 

“I have loved working as chief for East Ridge and the great people I’ve been privileged to work with,” said Chief Allen.  “I’m excited for what comes next – hunting, fishing, golf, and hiking.”

East Ridge Assistant Police Chief Clint Uselton has been selected as the new Police Chief for the department and will assume his responsibilities on Monday, September 26.  Josh Creel, a 21-year veteran of the department has been selected as the new Assistant Police Chief.
